How to choose a bike

The beauty of renting a bike is that you can try different bikes, eventually, you will find a bike that meets all your needs and that is the type of bike that you can purchase for yourself.

For most purposes, many people from Europe and the USA already know how to choose a bike based on their needs. But locally here in Oman, most people are uninformed. So they only think about Road bikes (which they call race bikes) or Mountain bikes.

But in reality, there are many more types of bikes, we hope to offer as many varieties as meet the needs of our locale.

If you ever want to know all the possible options of bikes available, you can speak with one of our associates. Once you have this knowledge, it will help you in your future decisions.

Now let’s get to the question… how to choose a bike?

Well, to choose a bike, you should have a few things in mind, once these conditions are met, then you have the bike that you can enjoy. Though for a very short rental period, some of these particulars are not as important as others.

  • Right Bike Type for the intended type of ride and terrain
  • Right Frame Size for your body geometry

Right Bike Type:

Based on where you plan to ride, we have a selection of bicycles recommended. Some bikes are best for being on the road and for speed. Some bikes are best offroad, while others are good for wadi’s and others are good for Omani jabels too. So whether you want speed, or you want to ride on flat or inclined areas, the bikes are different.

Right Frame Size:

The frame size information is not common knowledge among most of the small stores or bike renters. However, it is information that is important for our customers’ health and well-being while riding our bikes. For the one-hour rentals, this is not significantly important, however, if you intend to rent a bike for more than one hour, then getting a bike that fits you is paramount. This is because if the frame is too small, you will develop pain in certain parts of your body, and when the frame is too large, you will develop pain in other parts of the body. All this takes the fun out of riding!

To choose the right frame size for you, you have to first decide what type of riding you will be doing and choose a bike… then on each bike page, there will be information on what range of rider heights the bike can accommodate. Please note that the sizes may be different from one bike manufacturer to another, and from one model to another.

The best thing to do is to contact one of our associates and give them some basic information (your height and your inseam measurements), he/she then will be able to guide you to a frame that will fit.

But if you come straight to our store, it is even easier and quicker for us to get to the right bike for you.
